After finishing the stint at TV9, I moved to New Straits Times (NST) and started my intern there for two weeks. It started on 9th January and ended on 20th January.

It was a whole new experience. Its very much different from the TV station.

I learnt quite a lot, just a bit sad that its only for a short time, wish I could be there a bit longer..

Anyways, I got my byline. To tell you the truth, it articles wasnt the whole me. I worked with a senior reporter, Minderjeet Kaur. I just wrote a bit..

Anyways, the article landed as the main story on the front page.

I still remember in my Jets class, we were thought to write as we speak.

Yeah right. If I write like how I speak, most of what you will hear is 'nasi lemak'. But thats not the point here.

Broadcast journalist is very much different from print journalist.

In broadcasting, we have to limit our speech and script as to not take too much time, whereas in print they can write for as much as their editors let them.

While we are banging our heads on the monitor trying to economise our words, they are losing their hairs thinking what else to say in the articles.

There's another problem I just noticed.

Since I mostly use Bahasa for writing the scripts for TV, I kept asking myself "what the *&%@ do they call this in Bahasa?"

I'm pretty sure when I go to print, I'll ask, "ape menatang haram ni in english?"

I'll only talk on the language part, because thats the one bothering me the most, and for the fact I don't get enough anchovies with the nasi lemak here. *grrrrrr*

All in all, its fun working here. Though the hour nearing the news slot kind of hectic and desperate.

Adderly Shaharudin hosted the session with Noel Meldan, Faris Farid and Alif Zulkefle. Together, we talked about ICDC and some other things. However, there are some profanities. Thus, listen at your own risk.

Independence Cup Debating Championship (ICDC) was recently hosted by the Universiti Teknologi Mara Kampus Bandaraya Melaka (UiTM KBM) Rhetoric Club to promote debate and celebrate independence.

Fine Dining Etiquette

"What the heck? Why is it so hard to eat?!" is one of the questions that went through the Jets students, when they were having their meals during fine dining etiquette class recently.

Held at Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel, the soon-to-be-journalists were surprised when they see the number of spoons, forks and knives on the table.

Just when they thought they are in need of a crash course in eating, the master of ceremony Terrence Dass elegantly provide the assistance.

Well, it is a bit hard, especially those like us who usually dine using our hands (so malaysian).

The food was not only delicious they were also easy on the eyes.

All of us had a lot of food and of course, everyone was happy. We had a great time and ended it with a photograph session. =)

Berasak-asak untuk jubah graduasi

Shah Alam - Proses mengambil jubah bagi siswazah di Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam di sini menjadi kecoh apabila mereka berlari keluar barisan dan berapat-rapat untuk mengelakkan hujan lebat tengah hari semalam.

Keadaan itu mengakibatkan urusan mengambil jubah menjadi huru-hara dan lambat. Sesetengah siswazah yang berbadan kecil mengalami kesusahan bernafas akibat dikelilingi lautan manusia. Kejadian tersebut berlanjutan sekurang-kurangnya 2 jam.

Dianggarkan lebih 6,000 siswazah hadir untuk mengambil jubah bermula daripada seawal 8.00 pagi. Majlis Graduasi UiTM itu adalah majlis ke-75 semenjak penubuhan universiti tersebut.
